Ngedon Shedrup Phuntsog Ling Monastery

After 20 years of great effort of our beloved Lama Chödor, Ngedon Monastery in Nepal has received the first 18 monks to live and study. They have arrived at the monastery on the 21st of February 2018 and the shaving hair ceremony took place on the 23rd. We now need a sponsor for each monk, which is in itself, a very auspicious and good opportunity to accumulate merit by such generous act, that not only takes care of a precious life but also protects the Dharma. 

 

Taking care of a community of monks is like taking care of a small town. There are many expenses behind the scene that are indispensable to the smooth running of a place. Services such as providing clean water, continued electricity supply, disposal of the garbage and sewerage, efficient administration are all vital to keeping the community functioning. Maintenance of infrastructure, buildings and facilities is also essential.

The costs of all these 'background expenses' are high. However, most of the donations Ngedon Monastery receives are part of the Sponsorship Program and are directed to specific purposes such as food, clothing and health care, and cannot be used for other things. By making a general donation to Ngedon Monastery, you are joining our efforts to take care of the Sangha community residing here

Financial help from students and patrons that support the goals of the monastery has always been, and still is, essential to the survival and the development of the monastery. However, there are many other ways you can help Ngedon in its mission. Talk to your friends about Ngedon. Encourage people to come visit us and participate in our events. Let us know that Ngedon is important to you. 

 

It takes only € 50 per month to provide a monk with all necessities of daily life - food, clothing, medical care. If a full sponsorship is not within your budget, you can also partially sponsor a monk for € 25 per month or with any other amount within your reach. Another way of helping Ngedon is to collaborate with the expenses of electricity and academic supplies, we need around € 300 each month, and as was mentioned before one can decide to donate a part of the cost.

 

This is a unique opportunity, as the next group of monks will arrive only in three years. Now is the time to act!
